1. Original Deer and Rabbit Repellent
Q: How long does Repellex Deer and Rabbit Repellent
Last?
A: Repellex Deer and Rabbit Original Formula is one of the
longest lasting repellents in the market. It typically will last for 60-90
days on a plant surface, but if under continually wet conditions will need to be
reapplied more often. You should alway spray monthly to treat new growth
with fast growing plants.
Q: Can
the Deer and Rabbit Repellent be mixed with the fungicides in my pump sprayer
that I use on my roses?
A: The quick answer is yes/no.
Repellex products are made with environmentally safe ingredients that tend to
mix well and cause few issues with most other garden chemicals in a pump
sprayer. The problem is that we do not test every brand of fungicide or
other lawn and garden chemicals, so we cannot speak for every interaction that
may or may not happen when mixed. If you don’t know how the products will
interact, we do not recommend mixing the repellent with other chemicals.
If you still want to try mixing, we recommend testing only on plants your are
willing to be deemed “test subjects” in case a negative interaction happens to
the plants. Please use your better judgment and understand that our label
application guidelines are the best recommendation we can give you to ensure
your plant safety.
2. Fruit and Vegetable Animal
Repellent
Q: What is the difference between Deer and Rabbit and
Fruit and Vegetable Spray? Aren't they both deer and rabbit
repellents?
A:
Yes both Original Deer and Rabbit and Fruit and Vegetable Spray repel deer and
rabbit, but are made from completely different ingredients. Original Deer
and Rabbit is a blood based repellent with garlic oil. These are two great
ingredients to combine in a repellent and have been shown to be the longest
lasting formula in the business. This repellent lasts even in the rain and
really sticks to plants. The down-side with this repellent is that is not
intended for use on edible plants, has a noticable odor when first
applied and has a light red color that can occasionaly be seen on light
foliage after the intial application. The color is not bad but
some people do not like it.
Fruit and Vegetable is an egg based
repellent that is combined a series of essential oils. You can spray this
on you edible plants and actually the essential oils give the product a pleasant
smell when applied. The down-side with this repellent is that egg does not
stick as well as blood and has a shorter lasting life. If you reapply more
often you will be fine though. Note, both repellents have completely
different smells and tastes they work well when you are looking to rotate
your repellent type.
3. Mole, Vole and Gopher Repellent
Q: Which mole repellent works better liquid or
granular??
A: Both repellent work
equally as well. The liquid absorbs faster when applied, but the granular
lasts longer. Often people will buy the liquid on the intial application
and the granular to do follow up treatments.
Q: Is Repellex mole and gopher repellent safe to use around my pets and
children?
A: Yes, these products are
made with natural and environmentally safe ingredients. They should not
cause any issues, unless your pet or child has an unknown allergy to any of the
active ingredients. We do recommend to let the repellent dry before
you let your pet or child roll around in the yard because if not your dog
or child will smell like castor oil and garlic when they come in!
Q: Can I apply the Mole, Vole and
Gopher repellent in my flower and vegetable garden?
A: You can apply it in your garden as long
as you are mindful of how and where you apply it. The Mole, Vole and Gopher repellents are
made with castor oil, an emulsifier, and cinnamon, garlic and pepper oils. You can apply the product in your garden
as long as you do not spray the liquid on plant leaves because the oils could
magnify light on the leaf surfaces if pooling occurs and “burn the leaves”. You can apply the granular in or on the
soil keeping in mind that root vegetables like potatoes have a very small
potential of absorbing the active ingredients if they are in direct contact with
the oils for an extended period of time.
With that said, we have yet to have a reported flavoring issue occur, but
we prefer to be overly concerned with your garden. Use your better judgment when applying
the products.
Q: I have voles in my mulch, how
should I apply Mole, Vole and Gopher repellent?
A: If you have voles in your mulch you need
to offer the best path of absorption for the repellent to work. That means
you should pull away the mulch when applying the repellent. If you have a
weed barrier under the mulch you can leave it alone if it allows water
and moisture to pass through. If it does not then you will have to
consider replacing the weed barrier with a breathable type, or find
another way to ensure the repellent gets under the nonbreathable
barrier material.
4. Dog and Cat
Repellent
Q: I applied the repellent but I saw the dog (or cat) back in the yard
again?! What am I doing wrong?
A: You are doing nothing
wrong. Most repellents are designed to invoke fear and be an
irritant. Repellents for dogs and cats are designed to be irritants that
create behavior modification. If a dog or cat learns that being in the
area that makes them sneeze or irritates their nose, over-time, they start to
find other places to be. Reapplication is a key to success and over weeks
you should see desireable results.
5. Squirrel Repellent
Q: I applied the repellent but I saw the squirrel back on the
birdfeeder again?! What am I doing wrong?
A: You are doing nothing
wrong. Most repellents are designed to invoke fear and be an
irritant. Squirrels have not fear! Repellents for squirrels are
designed to be irritants that create behavior modification. If a squirrel
learns that being in the area that makes them sneeze or irritates their nose,
over-time, they start to find other places to be. Reapplication is a key
to success and over weeks you should see desireable results. We recommend
to reapply the repellent after each seed filling, after a rain or per bottle
listed recommendations.
